It is so lovely to have all of our students back!
Parents are now allowed limited access to the school buildings. They must comply with all the restrictions and are not encouraged to enter - they can by arrangement. They must QR Code in, be fully vaccinated, socially distance, and wear a mask.
Parents are still invited to be part of our assemblies. They are held at 2.45 pm or 3.00 pm via zoom every Thursday and the link is the same every week. Please come back and join us we miss you. Big shout out to Sara Carbone who was not only the first person on today but we could see her. Also to Anne Aquilina for leading us admirably in Happy Birthday!!
Finally, I urge people to park and walk to pick students up from the Wynnstay Rd exit. It is crazy out there. Also, a reminder that parents are asked not to park on A'Beckett Street after Sydney Street as turning around outside the school gates is dangerous.
We are so happy to be back and looking forward to further loosening of restrictions at 90%.
Stay safe,
A huge thank you to the 54% of families who completed the School Improvement Survey! We will share with you the results of this when we receive them.
Colour Fun Run - Fund Raising Day
Last newsletter we launched our 2021 Colour Run!!!
This fundraiser is aiming to raise money for our school. We are going to try to raise enough money to get solar panels on our school roof and save money and the environment!!
The students will be rewarded for their fundraising efforts with not only peace of mind in their effort of saving the planet with solar power but also awesome prizes! You can see what you can earn on the posters up around the school and by clicking the link below.
We had a big competition in the school to kick things off. The class that had the most sign-ups by today was to win EXTENDED PLAYTIME!!!!
And the winners are (drum roll please)... Miss Ross's Year Prep and Ones!!!! with a massive 18 sign-ups!!!! That is 78% of their class. Great start I wonder when the remaining 22% will be able to sign on?
NOW IS THE TIME TO CREATE YOUR ONLINE PROFILE - IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE THIS!
Now is the time to create your online profile for the School Fun Run, here is what to do:
Step 1 Click this link: https://app.schoolfundraising.com.au/users/sign_up
Step 2 Complete the registration and select "Our Lady Of Lourdes" as your school
Step 3 Share your unique link with family and friends to receive donations and earn awesome prizes!
Step 4 Participate in the Colour Day on DECEMBER 15TH and have a fantastic day!
Step 5 Receive your awesome prizes for your fundraising efforts! Click here to see what you can earn
HERE IS OUR NEXT SCHOOL GOAL. We are currently at 62% of students signed on, that is they have created their profile and started to raise money. IF we can have 80% of students signed up by next Friday ... EVERYONE GETS A FREE ICY POLE!!!
That means we need 27 more students to create their online profiles. 27 students divided by 7 classes is approximately 4 more students in each class. That is very achievable. So get on in time for next week's 80% Icy Poles Target.
Happy Signing Up and Fundraising!!!
Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat
Last Thursday was a hive of activity with the filming of the megamix. Please be aware that this is a complete reorganisation of the play with some songs left out altogether and others abbreviated down to a chorus or phrase. However, our aim is to have every child in the megamix even if its just fleetingly.
We have a couple of remaining grades to film which we will film next week. We thank Miss McGurk for all the work that she has put into the reorganisation of this.
On another matter - we have pressed the REFUND button on the 'Trybooking' Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat concert tickets. You should receive your refund back onto your card in the next 7 - 10 days.

The School Advisory Council Meeting
The next School Advisory Council (formerly The School Education Board) meeting is on Tuesday, 9th November at 7.00pm in the OLOL staffroom.
This is just a reminder that our first training session will be Friday 19th November. Please note the change of pools - we will now be training at the Harold Holt Swim Centre, 1409-1413 High Street, Glen Iris.
A really big thank you to all the volunteers who have put their hands up to help feed the students when they return to school after the training session.
The total cost of Swim Squad is $70.00. The payment can be made in full or in two instalments of $35.00, however money must be received prior to the commencement of Swim Squad each term. This fee covers lane hire and breakfast as well as contributing toward the bus to the Carnival. To make a payment you can either call the office and pay by credit card or you can transfer straight into the school bank account.
Students are to arrive at the pool at 7.00am and be ready to begin training at 7.10 am. Training will finish by 7.50 am sharp to allow students enough time to get changed and be ready to walk to the tram. We will catch a tram from the front of the Swim Centre to allow us to be back to school by 8.35 am. Parents are more than welcome to remain at the pool to help and return with the students and staff to OLOL by tram.
We will be travelling by tram together at the conclusion of training. No child is to return to school independently by car. Students will need to bring a Myki card with credit for the tram.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email me at adrian.costa@olprahraneast.catholic.edu.au
Thank you,
Adrian Costa
Classroom Cuisine lunch orders will resume on Friday 5th November.
An ex OLOL family have donated two guitars for us to give to good homes. If you are interested, please contact the office.
Our Wonderful SRC will be selling Remembrance Day poppies each morning at the front of the school. Prices begin at $2.
