What a happy week!!!! We finally got our beautiful students back in the door and we can't wait to see year four next week. I am delighted to report the students are very happy, very tall and very hairy!!
As I write this there is such a happy hum about the place. If you were on the assembly today you would have seen the incredible activity Year 2 / 3 A completely made up for themselves. Dougie Posset made a little spiral out of scrap paper, Jerry Boules loved the idea and added to it to make it a longer spiral. Suddenly the idea 'spiralled' out of control and the whole class went beserk and made the worlds longest spiral. With much excitement and acclaim, the spiral ran from the room, down the stairs through the hall, out the admin area, up the outside stairs, around through the art room, then back in the east side door, up Miss Gammilonghi's stairs and into the classroom. IT WAS AMAZING!!! It was everything school should be ... engaging, exciting, collaborative and above all else FUN!
So next week has to be about Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat. Miss McGurk is about a hundred weeks pregnant and so we cannot wait one second longer to film something. I have written special instructions below on what we are going to do. PLEASE READ THEM so that no child is left out or feels left out for want of a pair of black leggings.
Then the next thing apart from getting our beautiful Year fours to make their Sacrament of Eucharist is our all-important Colour Fun Run. Also more on that in this newsletter.
So I sit here one very happy principal looking forward to a disrupted but happening term four. Thank you for the gratitude we have received (one teacher's room looked like a florist on Monday) the happy feedback and the grateful looks from parents dropping students off. Congratulations to you all for holding the fort and now with a bit of luck, it's our turn for the final seven weeks.
Thank you for your support.

So our Plan C, because Plan D is not an option (Plan D is to do as many schools are and just abandon having a concert at all), is this.
The amazing McGurk has created a megamix, a combination of bits of most of the songs from the show, and pieced them together. This way we intend to film separate groups of students doing their thing, outside in various locations around the school grounds, and Miss McGurk will edit it together and create us a masterpiece.
We have the added pressure of Miss McGurk finishing up in a week and a half to go on maternity leave. So this HAS to take place next week. Therefore we need all costumes to school IMMEDIATELY. Below Miss Anne has organised a complete list of what your child should have. (These costume requirements have not changed since they were shared with you months ago).
We also have a situation where many of you have purchased tickets. We will simply be refunding the ticket money. Perhaps you could use it to sponsor your children in our upcoming Colour Day Fun Run!!!
ALL Students In Prep, Grade 1, 2, and 3 please have their black leggings in a named plastic bag for Anne to check for filming. We understand many students have already brought these requirements into school and thank you for that. These need to be brought to school on the next school day if they are not already at school.
Students in Grade 4, 5, and 6 please have their named costume item/s in a named plastic bag and bring them in the NEXT DAY AT SCHOOL?
They will be left at school until your group is filmed.

If any student has an item, not just your own outfit, such as extra black leggings, long-sleeved black collarless tops, checked shirts etc it would be lovely to lend them to a friend who doesn't have the required pants, shirt, etc.
Please remember to look in siblings / parental wardrobes. Leggings and long-sleeved T-shirts are universal and genderless so let's think broadly here.

Important Changes for Return to School 7.0
- Anyone entering the school, at anytime, for any reason, must be double vaccinated and must show proof of this.
- Children in Years 3-6 are to wear masks in the classroom. Please send your child to school with an appropriately fitting and named mask. Any unnamed masks found will be instantly binned.
Illness During Changed Schooling Conditions
It has been so lovely to hear the sound of little fooststeps and laughter around the school this week as we have begun welcoming some of our students back to onsite learning. While it is a very exciting time for most of us, it can also be an understandably challenging transition.
At OLOL, we have implemented a "Mindfulness Lunchtime Box" full of fun activites such as puzzles, blocks and consturction materials, drawing and colouring in resources and games. These activities provide students with the opportunity to have a "quieter" and more mindful lunch break as a fun and engaging alternative to the playground.
The following links also provide families with tips and resources regarding the transition back to school and supporting their children as they navigate the vast amount of change that has been happening in their lives:

If you need to purchase Summer uniform items there is a button on the app named 'Uniform Orders'. The uniforms will be processed in the office and given to your child. If there is an issue with anything regarding the uniform please send an email to Tones in the office (Thursdays and Fridays).
This is just a reminder that our first training session will be Friday 19th November. Please note the change of pools - we will now be training at the Harold Holt Swim Centre, 1409-1413 High Street, Glen Iris.
A really big thank you to all the volunteers who have put their hands up to help feed the students when they return to school after the training session.
The total cost of Swim Squad is $70.00. The payment can be made in full or in two instalments of $35.00, however money must be received prior to the commencement of Swim Squad each term. This fee covers lane hire and breakfast as well as contributing toward the bus to the Carnival. To make a payment you can either call the office and pay by credit card or you can transfer straight into the school bank account.
Students are to arrive at the pool at 7.00am and be ready to begin training at 7.10 am. Training will finish by 7.50 am sharp to allow students enough time to get changed and be ready to walk to the tram. We will catch a tram from the front of the Swim Centre to allow us to be back to school by 8.35 am. Parents are more than welcome to remain at the pool to help and return with the students and staff to OLOL by tram.
We will be travelling by tram together at the conclusion of training. No child is to return to school independently by car. Students will need to bring a Myki card with credit for the tram.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email me at adrian.costa@olprahraneast.catholic.edu.au
Thank you,
Adrian Costa
