Remote Learning - Changes to Methodology
With the government's announcement yesterday regarding further lockdowns, I am writing to let you know of some changes we will be implementing regarding Remote Learning moving forward.
We will be building on the successes of last year and adding to our program. The most significant change will be in the amount of online face-to-face teaching.
The new plan will follow the guidelines below.
All students are to log onto their classes at 9.00 am
Dressed and ready to learn with the appropriate resources
No eating
9.00 - 10.45 Literacy Block
The shape of this session will look slightly different in the different levels, see instructions below.
11.15 - 12.15 Maths
Monday afternoon- Religion Activity
Tuesday afternoon - Wellbeing Activity
Wednesday afternoon - STEMS Activity
Thursday afternoon- Physical Education Activity
Friday afternoon - Art Activity
Assembly will take place every Thursday at 2.00 pm
These activities will be found on the daily planner.
There will be different forms of student intervention taking place next week.
Please read all classroom notifications regarding these.
We understand that with the change in the delivery for the morning Literacy and Maths sessions requiring students to be online with their teacher from 9 am you may not have enough devices to provide for each child.
If you need a school-provided Chrome book please fill in the following form.
Please ensure your child/ren is at all face-to-face learning sessions on time.
We will take our attendance records from these.
All students will need to pick up a take home pack. These packs will be ready for collection on Friday afternoon between 1:00pm and 3:30 pm in order for lessons to begin online at 9:00 am on Monday 7th June.
Please use the side gate and the Eastside path to pick up packs while following COVID guidelines. There is no need to enter the school. Thank you.
Year Prep - Year 3 From the art room as before
Years 4, 5 and 6 - Tubs will be available in the sheltered area near the tuck shop
As with all things that we do, we hope these changes will bring about positive learning outcomes.
Stay safe and happy,
Francine
Thank you for the incredible support you are currently giving your child. We appreciate everything you are doing! OLOL Prep and Year 1’s are going LIVE! We are so excited that we will be spending more time with your wonderful child/ren next week!
We will send home a Daily Checklist via Seesaw as we currently do with Zoom links and any additional information.
Alongside the students Take Home Pack we are also sending home an OLOL Zoom Resource Pack. All students must bring both packs with them to our Live Sessions. Please ensure your child can independently mute and unmute themselves on Zoom. Even better if they can begin to log on to the link by themselves!
Prep Students will join Miss Ross’ Zoom link for Reading, Writing and Maths.
Year 1 Students will join Miss March’s Zoom link for Reading, Writing and Maths.
- 9:00 - 10:30: Live Reading and Writing Session
- 10:30 - 10:45: Live Reading Group. We will read with a group of students everyday. We will let you know what day you are reading with a teacher via our Daily Checklist.
- 11:15 - 12:15: Live Maths Session
- 1:30 - 2:15: Afternoon session (RE, Wellbeing, STEMS, Art and PE) via Seesaw
You will no longer be required to post your child/ren’s work to Seesaw unless stated otherwise.
We are really looking forward to next week. We thank you in advance for your assistance with helping our students get used to our Live Session routines and expectations.
Dear Year 2 and 3 Parents/Carers,
Firstly, a massive THANK YOU for all your hard work and support this week with Remote Learning. It really is a team effort and we appreciate, support and help with delivering the learning at home!
It has been wonderful to see the children on our morning Zooms this week, they bring a smile to our faces.
With the changes in how the sessions will run next week please find below the details of how the live teaching sessions will run.
The outline for the week will be sent out via Seesaw by Sunday at 4pm. This will have all the Zoom links for the live sessions.
The Take Home Pack, which will be available for you to collect on Friday afternoon,
will include work for Reading, Writing and Maths. Students will be working in their Reading, Writing and Maths groups and so will need to join the correct Zoom link for their live sessions. The front cover of the Maths, Reading and Writing packs will indicate which group your child belongs in.
Included in the Take Home Packs will be various school resources, eg whiteboards and pens, we ask that these are all returned when onsite learning resumes.
The live teaching sessions will follow this timetable:
- 9:00am-9:45am Live Writing session
- 10:00-10:45am Live Reading session
- 11:15-12:15pm Live Maths session
- 1:30-2:15pm Afternoon session via Seesaw (RE, Wellbeing, STEMS, Art, Assembly and PE)
Please do not complete any of the activities in the pack before the online sessions as the work provided will be used during our live learning. Work should not be posted on Seesaw unless stated otherwise.
Thank you,
Year 2 and 3 Team
Year Four, Year Five and Year Six

Student Free Teacher Professional Learning Day - Friday 11th June
Friday 11th June is a student-free day. This was planned last year and has been on the school calendar since the start of the year. I do apologise for any inconvenience but we have to go ahead as planned with this day. Thank you as always for your support.
At this time of the pandemic,
Let us foster respect and solidarity with others, especially those who are weak or poor.
Let us remain calm and ignore unsubstantiated rumours.
Let us take advantage of living together as a family.
Let us attend to moments of prayer.
Let us cultivate responsibility, patience, and hope.
Amen.
