Dear Parents,
A big thank you to all our families who attended our first whole school Mass of the year. Despite the heat, it was a wonderful turnout, and it was fantastic to see so many people staying back to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a chat in the parish hall.
In a couple of weeks, a photographer will be visiting our school to capture fresh photos for our marketing materials. As a significant part of our marketing involves photos featuring students, we kindly ask you to complete the photo permission form by clicking here. Your consent to use images of your child greatly enhances the variety of visuals we can utilise in our promotional materials.
Our first Open Day is only a couple of weeks away and we look forward to welcoming new families to our school. If you have any children who will be attending OLOL in 2025, 2026, or 2027, please click here to fill out an enrolment form. If you have any friends or family who are looking at coming to OLOL, please share our Open Day flyer below or direct them to our website for enrolment information.
Over the past few weeks, there has been a noticeable increase in parents making U-turns outside the school. We kindly request that you refrain from doing so, as the area is congested and poses safety risks. Instead, we encourage you to drive further up the street and utilise one of the driveways to make a U-turn.
In other news, our school library is now complete! Our literacy leaders and staff members are diligently organising the books in preparation for our grand opening next Friday during assembly. Parents are encouraged to drop in and take a look around.
Every Wednesday, one or two of our year levels will be attending mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. This year, we are excited to involve our students more actively in our class masses and would love our parents and family members to join us for mass.
This year, our classes have adopted a fixed weekly classroom schedule. This consistency is designed to assist families in establishing a weekly routine, knowing sports uniform days, and facilitating evening family discussions as parents will be aware of the subjects taught on each day. You can view your child's timetable and overview here.
I understand that sometimes you may be overloaded by information in our newsletter. We do this so you have a source to refer back to when you need to know more information about school events. We would love to hear any ideas you have that may help us improve the way we deliver our information to our families. We think our process is streamlined but any feedback on how we can improve is appreciated.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.

Maximising student participation in photo opportunities enhances historic records, fosters fun involvement, and positively contributes to the school's public image. Congratulations to all our school leaders for 2024!
We thank Mr Venier and Ms Griffin for the preparation of the school leadership elections. The Leadership program is one that we take very seriously at OLOL. The 2023 school leaders left some big shoes to fill but, we are very confident the 2024 school leaders will do an amazing job in their leadership roles this year.

Open Days and Prep Enrolments for 2025
Below are the dates of our Open Days for this year. As we always mention, while we are very strategic with our marketing approach - the best possible marketing strategy is happy OLOL parents telling people about our marvellous school. Therefore, please keep getting the word out there.
Camps Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) 2024
The Victorian Government are continuing the Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) initiative to ensure all Victorian students can take part in school trips and sporting activities. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) will run over four years and provide payments for eligible students to attend camps, sports and excursions. Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply. $125 per year will be paid for eligible primary school students, with $225 per year paid for eligible secondary school students. Payments will go directly to the school and be tied to the student.
If you hold a valid means-tested concession card (CRN) or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. The allowance will be paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions, or sporting activities for the benefit of your child/children.
Please see below a copy of the application form for your convenience. You should lodge a CSEF application form at the school as soon as possible to be eligible for the payment in March 2024.
Early Pick-ups Around Lunchtime
We understand that this is not always possible, but we are asking that if you are picking your child up early from school for an appointment or early departure that you avoid doing this during break times.
Recess 11.00 am - 11.30 am and Lunch 1.30 pm - 2.30pm.
It is very difficult to locate a child on the playground (many times they are across at the park) during these times.
Thank you for your understanding.
