Dear Parents,
As 2023 draws to a close, we eagerly anticipate what lies ahead in 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes.
A heartfelt thank you extends to our incredible parents and friends. Your unwavering support and dedication to our school contribute significantly to the vibrant and nurturing environment we cherish. It fills me with pride to serve as the Principal of such a remarkable school.
This past year has been marked by numerous memorable events, including 3/4 and 5/6 camps, joyous celebrations, class and whole school masses, notable sporting and academic achievements, and successful fundraisers. These experiences have not only strengthened our sense of community but have also enhanced the overall quality of our school.
Looking ahead to the upcoming year, we are excited about the multiculturalism unit we will partaking in our Inquiry lessons. We are excited to incorporate our parent community into the learning and enriching experience. The announcement of our School Captains for 2024 and the convening of Whole School Masses are among just some of the things that are happening next year. There could also be a Color Run in the works for Term 4, where a staff member who's not me will be SLIMED!
I take this opportunity to extend my best wishes to Bernie on her new role at DCC, Eimear as she awaits the arrival of her first baby, and Tanya for a safe and enriching year of travels. Your contributions to our school have been invaluable, and you will be sincerely missed.
On behalf of the entire staff, I express gratitude to our families for their steadfast support throughout the year. The journey of school life can be demanding, but the collaboration between our families and staff ensures our students continue to strive towards becoming the best version of themselves.
A significant date to mark in your calendars is Sunday, 11th of February, when we will hold our first Whole School Mass. This event will welcome our new Year 5/6 leaders into their roles for 2024.
To the students and families bidding farewell this year, your presence has been a cherished part of our school community. While parting is bittersweet, we take pride in your accomplishments during your time at OLOL. To the departing parents, your support and engagement have been invaluable, and we wish you all the best for the future.
As we approach the Christmas break, I wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season. Take the time to savour moments with your loved ones, and I look forward to welcoming you all back to Our Lady of Lourdes on Wednesday, 31st January.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.
Adrian McAlister
Dear Parents,
I hope all the OLOL students had a really fun day with all the activities that were organised. It was great for me to complete some jobs that Mr McAlister does as well as do my own thing.
- Ordered hot chips for all the students
- Organised some new air conditioning units for the classrooms
- Made important phone calls
- Made some announcements
- Spoke to Ned our site manager about the progress of the new library.
- Dressed up in your favourite decade and donated our gold coin donation to a charity
My favourite part of the day was seeing all of the students' faces and how happy they were about getting hot chips, and extra playtime. Overall it was fun and exhausting. I had an excellent, super day and I want to thank Mum and Dad for allowing me the chance to be Principal.
From
Principal Patrick
We would like to take this opportunity to bid the Year Sixes farewell and thank them for their example and leadership to the whole school.
They have been kind and compassionate leaders and we are sad to see them go. Apart from our graduates, we say goodbye to several families who will be leaving us as well. We wish you all well and hope that your time at OLOL is remembered with happiness.
We would like to thank all of the people who contributed to the Bake Sale. The Bake Sale was very successful, and we raised over $700 for MacKillop Family Services. We are very grateful for your donations.
We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Allegra, Juliette, Rose, Felicity, Stella and Leila
Dear OLOL Community,
As you know my upcoming nuptials are fast approaching. If you would like to join Gareth and I on our special day then you're more than welcome to come along to the Church. Details below.
Congratulations to those dedicated basketball players who were acknowledged for their effort and commitment as outstanding players! Toorak Basketball Club is made up of children from 53 schools and many of the students from OLOL received awards. Congratulations!
We love celebrating good news at OLOL so if you have something exciting to share please email us!
Research is clear that children who don’t read during the long summer break can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. Therefore, we ask that your child/children read each day for 15 to 30 minutes. Students who maintain their regular study habits through the summer months get enough mental stimulation to keep their brain active, while still getting plenty of rest and relaxation.
There are several unnamed pieces of uniform currently in the office. If anyone is missing any items of uniform please come and see Tones. If this uniform is unclaimed by the end of term tomorrow it will be given to the second-hand uniform shop.
Please, please remember to name all of your child's uniform, that way when it comes to the office we can return it to its rightful owner.
