Dear Parents,
This week has been filled with excitement at OLOL. Last night, we had the pleasure of welcoming both our existing and new Prep parents for 2024. It was exciting to meet them and engage in discussions about what their children can expect as students at OLOL.
Today marked the commencement of our new Prep students' orientation day. Thankfully, there were no tears – just countless smiles that set a positive buzz for the upcoming three orientation days. We are eager to build connections with these new faces and make their transition to OLOL as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
On a bittersweet note, today also marks the farewell of Gaya Nair, who has been an invaluable part of our school office for the past 11 months. Gaya's contributions, both alongside Margaret and Tones in our office and as an ESO in 2A, have been greatly appreciated. We extend our best wishes to Gaya as she embarks on her new role.
As we approach the close of the year, I'm sure many of you are curious about class updates and teacher allocations. I'm pleased to share some exciting news – Irene Archer has been officially appointed as our new Deputy Principal for 2024. Irene has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership at OLOL, and I congratulate to her on this appointment. With Irene moving into her new role, we have initiated the search for a classroom teacher to fill her position. Once this selection is made, we will promptly share the finalised class structure and teacher assignments with you. I am targeting the end of the month for this announcement, and I appreciate your patience and understanding during this transitional period.
Please save the date of Sunday 3rd December for our Term 4 Whole School Mass, where we'll extend a warm welcome to the new 2024 Prep families. The Mass will commence at 11:15 am, with a number of current students being given important roles during the Mass. Following the Mass, we invite you to join us for morning tea and catch-up in the parish hall. I'm excited to see everyone at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church as we come together for this special occasion.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.

Costume details for each class are as follows:
The hard work and dedication to weekly Running Club sessions was evident across all year levels. The weekly training meant that no matter what speed students ran around they had the confidence and self-belief that they were ready for the challenge ahead.
A big congratulations to Green and Gold house for their efforts and a MASSIVE congratulations to Red house for being the 2023 Cross Country Champions.
Not only was it a great day of athletic performance, but the way students support, encourage and cheer each other on is truly wonderful. It shows that even in the fierce battle of competition, the important element of sportsmanship is not lost. It's a credit to the culture at OLOL that all students can celebrate and support each other across all houses.
Thank you to all the parents for their assistance on the day as it goes along way to making our school events such a big success.
Bring on 2024!
Mr Podbury
