Dear Parents,
As you know from the Regional Manager’s letter to you all earlier today, my news is bittersweet. I have accepted another job opportunity after ten incredible years at our beloved school. Please know that this decision was not made lightly. While I have loved every moment spent at OLOL, the new opportunity that has presented itself aligns with my personal and professional goals, and I believe it is the right path for me at this stage of my career.
There will be time for proper goodbyes but straight off the bat I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support, trust, and encouragement throughout my tenure here. Your partnership has been invaluable, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of your children's lives. It has been such fun to serve as their principal and witness both their growth and development and the growth and development of the school.
It is also important from the outset to acknowledge the incredible contribution of Fr Hayes. His work both at the school and in the parish, not just during my time as Principal, but for the past 19 years. He has held OLOL in great stead. His humour, intelligence, wisdom, hard work, patience and perseverance have carried us forward and established a legacy of excellence and improvement that will endure for years to come.
I am grateful too for the collective efforts of our current and past staff, their unwavering commitment to our improvement strategy has been truly remarkable. They have consistently demonstrated their collaborative spirit, working together to create a harmonious and inclusive school community.
I have cherished my time at this school. It is you and your children who have made my work here so immensely rewarding. It has been a happy and fast ten years.
Fr Hayes, MACS, and I will do everything within our power to ensure a smooth transition for your children. I am pleased to inform you that Adrian McAlister will move into the Acting Principal role for the remainder of Term 3 and Term 4, while the process to find a new Principal for the commencement of 2024 is underway. I have full faith in the dedicated team of educators and staff who will continue to provide them with the nurturing environment and quality education they deserve. The strong foundation we have built together will remain intact, and your children will continue to flourish in their educational journey.
Thank you, so much, for your unwavering support throughout my tenure as Principal. It has been an honor and privilege to serve this remarkable school community. I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me and the cherished relationships we have built together.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Francine
Tim Morgan was a remarkable man and a cherished member of the OLOL community. Today the family and those closest to him will celebrate the extraordinary life he lived, the tremendous impact he had on those around him, and the deep love he shared with his family, Georgie, Tom, Billy, and Maddie.
Tim’s appreciation of the importance of fatherhood exemplified the true essence of what it means to be a devoted family man, and I keep hearing stories of unparalleled commitment to his loved ones. We know Tim best through the joyous and caring Billy and the fabulously spontaneous Maddie. Both of these children are evidence of a nurturing home filled with love, laughter, and a sense of belonging that welcomed friends and family with open arms.
As a father, Tim's devotion knew no bounds. He was a steadfast presence in the lives of his children, Tom, Billy and Maddie, providing them with unwavering support, encouragement, and unwavering love. Whether it was attending school events, coaching their sports teams, or simply being there to offer guidance, Tim made sure his children knew they were loved and cherished beyond measure.
Needless to say Tim touched the lives of countless individuals and left an indelible mark on their hearts. I know you join me in extending our deepest condolences to Georgie, and the kids and their extended family during this difficult time. May they find solace in the memories they shared, the love they received, and the knowledge that their Dad and husband has had such an impact on their lives and the lives of others.
It is with great disappointment that I inform you of Madam Agathe's decision to leave at the end of this term. Madam Agathe has been embraced by the students and staff and has worked hard to continue our really exciting French program. We are sorry to see her go but wish her the very best with her next adventure.
From Mme Agathe:

Football and Netball Lightning Premiership
Interschool Sport for Term 2 came to a conclusion with the Lightning Premierships. At this time of year, the Melbourne weather always keeps us guessing, but we were blessed with two days of clear-ish skies and both competitions were completed without missing a game.
After four weeks of games, it was time for the teams to showcase their skills and fitness, going head-to-head against schools in the Holt District. OLOL had 3 teams with netball having two teams and football having one.
It was two days of great competition, with all three teams representing OLOL in the best possible manner. They competed hard, supported each other, showcased their skills, and were humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
The netball lightning premiership delivered another shield for OLOL and it was a wonderful day. Both teams competed in the right spirit and showcased how their skills had improved over the four weeks. The mixed division was split into two pools with OLOL competing in both and one team winning the grand final and the other team finishing 3rd. Although the 7 players on that team won the shield, it is important to acknowledge that over the 4 weeks of games, all players played across both teams and it was truly a squad effort.
The football lightning premiership was a great day and the OLOL team once again showed determination, sportsmanship, tenacity and skill. The teams' improvement over the four weeks of games was fantastic and seeing how each player not only improved but played their part in both victories and defeats.
It's been a busy and successful term of sport for OLOL with the Soccer Lightning Premiership, Cross Country, Interschool Sport, Football and Netball Lightning Premierships. Every student who has represented the school has been a great example of what it means to a team player. The whole OLOL community can be very proud of how they represented themselves and our school.
Congratulations to ALL players for their efforts and a big thanks to the teachers who assisted with coaching and umpiring across the games. Thanks to Mrs M, Mrs Colaneri, Miss Murphy, Mr McAlister and Mr Venier.
Bring on 2024!
SRC - Winter Wonderland Fundraiser
The Winter Wonderland fundraiser was a great success with OLOL raising over $700! All money raised is supporting the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal which helps those in the community who are less fortunate.
It was wonderful to see students in their favourite winter outfits and join in the spirit of the Winter Wonderland. Teachers and students enjoyed watching 'Ice Age' and 'Cool Runnings while enjoying a yummy snowball and sipping on a delicious hot chocolate.
A big thank you to the OLOL community for their support and for giving so generously.
Thank You!
The SRC Team.

Computers, digital devices and the internet form part of a child’s learning at school, in family and social life, and at work (for older children).
There can be risks when children are online. If left unsupervised, children may be at risk of danger or seeing inappropriate content.
Ways to protect your child’s safety online
The steps you can take to help your children spend time online in safe way.
- Be aware of who your child talks to online. If they aren’t friends in person, ask your child how they know them.
- Be aware of the social media your child uses. Review any posts they make, and who they are messaging.
- Talk to your child about the dangers of sharing personal information and images online (including intimate images). Once posted, they can be easily distributed by others and become hard to remove.
- Ensure your child uses computers and devices in shared areas of your home.
- If your child becomes worried about someone they’ve met online, ensure they stop contact immediately.
- To learn more about your child’s use of computers and IT at school, talk with your child’s teachers.
For more information and resources for parents, visit the parents page on the eSafety Commissioner website.
Securing devices and accounts for children
Set the devices your child uses up for privacy and online safety by:
- Using parental controls on computers, phones and other devices. Parental controls can help monitor and control screen time, and access to online content.
- Enabling safe search settings on browsers, search engines, applications (apps) and YouTube.
- Selecting the highest privacy settings on any social media accounts your child uses.
For more advice, visit the eSafety Commissioner website.

As it is the end of the term, could we ask everyone to check their child’s uniform to ensure that all of the articles they are wearing (and any they have in their bags) actually belong to them (in particular jumpers and jackets). Also, please ensure that all items of uniform are clearly marked with your child’s name.
Please remind your children that they need to be responsible for their own belongings.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
