I hope everyone had a great Easter break. I heard lots of stories of travel and fun. Personally, I stayed close to home and enjoyed Melbourne's reinvigorated food scene and Collingwoods continued success.
At the end of last term, I was proud to take our Leadership Team to a dinner at the Town Hall hosted by the Victorian Association of Catholic Primary School Principals. The dinner was to celebrate the great achievements of principals in our system. It was a beautiful evening and despite the wine glass seen in the picture, I'm happy to report that the team behaved very well.
As mentioned further down in the bulletin we are delighted to share in the joy of baby Amalia's birth. In Mr Mac's absence, Miss Archer will be acting Deputy while Aoife Harrington will replace Irene in Year Two.
Speaking of babies which leads invariably to mothers - we have several events celebrating the mothers of OLOL coming up.
On Thursday 11th May there is an evening event being held at Neptune. It would be marvellous if absolutely EVERY mother (or significant female adult) could be at it - you deserve it!
Then the next morning Friday 12th May we are celebrating at school. The Dads of OLOL are providing a champagne and croissant breakfast for our treasured mums followed by a morning full of events including a guest speaker and a very fun family activity. We can't wait to show our mums how much we love and appreciate them.
There is a lot happening this term with camp, sporting events, incursions, excursions, and lots of staff going on and coming back from leave.
Thank you to the generous families who have already made a tax-deductible donation toward our building fund - please remember to donate as we head towards our $80,000.00 target.

Our warmest congratulations go to Adrian, Kristina and Alexander on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl Amalia Rosanna McAlister, born 13th April.
In the words of Adrian "Kristina and Amalia are doing well and Alexander is absolutely stoked to be a big brother to his little sister!"
It is great to see several students wearing the new OLOL jacket today. By way of clarification, they are to be worn WITH the sports uniform and can be worn INSTEAD of the sports windcheater. The formal winter uniform still requires the woollen jumper but if the students wish to wear the jacket over the woollen jumper as an extra layer in the winter - that is fine too. We've already received some positive feedback on the new uniform addition - so thank you for that.
Mothers Day - Well Deserved Evening Out
The more mothers and significant females that can make themselves available for this evening - the more fun this evening will be!!!
'OLOL Mothers Day (Evening) Celebration'
It would be wonderful if every mother, stepmother grand mother, and female partner could celebrate together.
Details are:

On Monday while you were all busily enjoying the last two days of the Easter break, the staff attended a day of professional learning in the sphere of faith development. We all met at the National Gallery of Victoria where we were taken through a profound learning experience looking at religion through art. Our guide David Menzies was not only deeply knowledgeable but had a way of presenting that appealed to us all. It was a moving day and one in which we consider ourselves lucky to have had the opportunity to participate.
Students in the Choir have been invited to view the 'School of Rock' production at De La Salle College. Parents should have received the permission form via SZapp or email. If your child is in the Choir and you have not received the form, please email irene.archer@olprahraneast.catholic.edu.au for more details.
Please note: forms must be returned by Tuesday 2nd May.

WE’RE TAKING IT IN OUR STRIDE ON FRIDAY 19 MAY 2023
May 19 will mark National Walk Safely to School Day an event when all Primary School children will be encouraged to walk and commute safely to school.
Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine.
You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:
• Walking with them the whole way to school
• If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop
• If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
We hope that lots of families at OLOL will get involved!
Today your child will bring home an important letter from Abby Mirani from ACU.
OLOL has been chosen to be a part of the ACU Science Program where Preservice Teachers will be teaching a Science unit over three consecutive Wednesdays. The letter is seeking your permission to take photos or videos and collect work samples. Please read the letter carefully amd return it to you child's Class Teacher before Tuesday 9th May.
Many thanks for your support in the success of this program.
The countdown is on for 3/4 overnight camp to Candlebark Farm, Healesville on Monday 15th to Tuesday 16th May (Term 2, Week 4).
Students will participate in a variety of activities over the two days including a range of team-building and outdoor activities. The students will also visit Healesville Sanctuary on the Tuesday before returning to school.
The students will leave school at 8am sharp and arrive at Candlebark Farm by 9.30 am on Monday 15th May. Students are scheduled to arrive back at Our Lady of Lourdes on Tuesday 16th May at 3pm.
Please complete both forms, regardless of whether or not your child takes medication.
The Itinerary and list of things to bring are linked here.
Where we can, we avoid mid week camps as often the students come home tired from a busy couple of days. This was not possible due to the popularity of this great camp. If you are able to keep your child home the next day or even send them into school after a sleep in that would be great. We will of course be open and will run a more relaxed timetable on the Wednesday for families who cannot keep their child home.
If you have any questions regarding the 3/4 camp please email Irene Archer (irene.archer@olprahraneast.catholic.edu.au).
Looking forward to a fun and action-packed 3/4 camp!
Term Two and Three are traditionally the terms when we wear winter uniform, however because the weather is so patchy we usually give the students a two week ‘grace’ period before the winter uniform rule comes in firmly. Term 2 commences on Wednesday 26th April. All students to be in winter uniform by Monday 8th May.
The winter uniform consists of :
Boys
- Long sleeve blue shirt with logo
- Long navy pants or Navy Shorts
- Navy socks / Knee length navy socks with shorts
- Navy wool school jumper
Girls
- Long sleeve blue shirt with logo
- Winter tunic
- Navy tights or knee length navy socks
- Navy wool school jumper
