Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term 4!
I love the fourth term for all sorts of reasons apart from the fact that it ends in a great big holiday. Normally I love the weather (except for extreme rain events like today), the focus on Fine Arts, the summer sports, the learning, the introduction to next year's prep students, and the graduation of our fabulous year sixes. I love Advent and Christmas ... bring it on in all its insane business!
Thank you to those who have already put their name on the Art Show Sausage Sizzle or Bar Rosters. This is a fabulous night celebrating the wonderful work of our students and the gifted Mrs. Vivarelli. There remain some empty spots on the rosters so please jump in and add your name. This is a whole school event and the expectation is that all students and their parents attend. We will not be charging admission this year but there is food and drink available for sale. This is a NO CASH event please bring cards.
For safety reasons, we had to move our Three/Four Science camp out of this week. Happily Nambool Camp has been able to offer us the 25th and 26th of October - so we will try again in two weeks.
Our Term Four Whole school Mass is a very special event. It is a welcome Mass hosted by this year's Prep and Ones for next year's Preps and their families. It also falls on the first Sunday of Advent so this makes it even more special. Please make sure you have Sunday 27th November,11.15 am in your diaries.
So, I look forward to seeing everyone next Friday, in the mean time stay dry,
Francine

Shay and I are extremely excited to share with the OLOL Community that we are expecting a baby girl in February 2023. We are both very pumped as well as nervous for the sleepless nights and dirty nappies to come!
From Alison ...
Jaime and I are so excited to finally share with the OLOL community that we are expecting our first child in early February, 2023. As we will be staying in the neighbourhood we’d love a wave or chat if our paths should cross.
Art Show - We Need Your Help!!
Art Show roster 2022
For those who haven't had the opportunity to attend in the past, this is a gorgeous evening where the children's artwork from this year is on show throughout the school, and a collaboration from each class is put up for auction. If you are able to assist in any way, please enter your name against the task/time slot that suits you best. Take care not to overwrite anyone else's name!
Thanks in advance for your support. Your help makes a huge difference!

Daniel Morcombe Foundation - Day for Daniel Friday 28th October
On Friday 28th October, OLOL will have our 'Day for Daniel' to raise awareness and promote child safety. Students can wear their favourite red clothes for the day and the SRC will be organising activities.
Keeping Kids Safe!
SPECIAL LUNCH FOR Daniel Morcombe DAY!
The Year Sixes will be holding a Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall on DM Day.
It will be held at lunch time (1:30pm) on the basketball court. Everything at the bake sale and sausage sizzle will be $3 each but if you would like 1 sausage and 1 baked good there will be a Special Combo for only $5! So make sure to bring some money so you can have some yummy sausages and yummy snacks.
While on the subject of uniform – as it is the end of the term, could we please ask everyone to check their child’s uniform to ensure that all of the articles they are wearing (and any they may have in their bags) actually belong to them (in particular jumpers and jackets). Also, please ensure that all items of uniform are clearly marked with your child’s name.
Please remind your children that they need to be responsible for their own belongings!
Please remember that Term 4 means time to start wearing hats again on the playground. The school sun policy is “No Hat, Shaded Area”. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their hat each day! Please also ensure that your child’s hat has their name clearly marked on it.
On Saturday 26th November (Victorian State Election Day) OLOL is being used as a polling venue. As a result, the P&F is organising our Sausage Sizzle.
It's time to put your name on a shift and take your place in the age-old tradition of the primary school election day sausage sizzle.
This is actually quite a fun thing to be part of and we ask you to be generous with your time and pop yourself on the roster for a shift.
Apart from the fact that it is a great way to meet people in our community that you have not met before it is a terrific opportunity to welcome people to our school which in turn could lead to enrolments. I have made a marketing board in the foyer and will leave materials out for the wider community to both take and hopefully hand on.
So as you can see this Sausage Sizzle offers more than the chance to hoe into a Democracy Sausage, it:
- Gives you an opportunity to work with and meet OLOL parents
- Raises money for the school
- Is a chance to engage local people in the benefits of our lovely school and therefore grow enrolments
- Is actually quite a fun way to spend a couple of hours
Please support your school, your children and the P&F and sign up for a shift:
Thank you
Swim Squad training for the 2023 Holt Swimming Carnival begins on Thursday 24th November at 7.00am at the Harold Holt Swim Centre.
Swim Squad is for current students in Years 2-5 (2022). If you child/children are keen to join please read, sign and return this form by Friday 28th October.
We will be offering breakfast upon returning to school provided that we have parents committed to the preparation and serving of the food. Please indicate on this permission note if you are willing to assist with this. If we do not receive enough parent support for the valued and enjoyed breakfast program, we will need to reconsider this aspect of the program.
If you have any questions at all please email me - adrian.costa@olprahraneast.catholic.edu.au
Cheers,
Adrian C
The next lot will be sent home next week. Please check student bags next week for your next delivery.
If your child is COVID positive we ask that you notify the school and keep them home for five days. If they are symptomatic beyond that they need to stay home.
The advice continues that any child who is sick is kept home. Any child that displays symptoms of any illness at school will be asked to be picked up from school and taken home.
