Dear Parents,
And so we make it to the end of the first Term 3 we have had at school in three years! And Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy what a term!
We have had or held; French Day, 2023 Prep Interviews, Wonder of Living Sessions, Grandparents Day, 100 Days of Prep, Sunday in the Park, Incursions and Excursions, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a Book Fair, Book Week Dress-up Day, Senior students sausage sizzle and cake sale, Whole school Mass followed by a delicious and well attended morning tea, Fathers and Special Persons morning, Whole School Inquiry Expo, Pirates of Penzance and a massive Winter FundRaiser!!!!!! This list does not include all the Term Three clubs including Choir, Hip Hop, Circus Skills, Lego Club, Chess Club, and gardening Club! No wonder we're all looking forward to a lovely Spring Break!
I wish to congratulate Miss Bernie, staff, and senior students on the spectacular success of Pirates of Penzance. A massive thank you too to Anthony Dea (Dommy's Dad who is a professional photographer) for taking and sharing photos of the night performance (see the gallery below). We also need to thank Peter Houlihan and De La Salle for the use of their great performance space - it was an altogether great experience for both the senior school performers and the Prep to Year 4 that went on an excursion to watch the matinee.
Just a heads up for next term which is always busy. We have the Art Show back for the first time in three years - Hooray!!! Teachers have already planned their class' art piece and will set about getting that made the minute Term 4 ticks over. Each class creates a whole class artwork which is then auctioned off to the highest bidder. This takes place in the context of an altogether lovely evening. The students' artwork from across the year is displayed throughout the hall and top corridor so families can view the extraordinary work of Miss Vivarelli and the students. The P and F will be running a sausage sizzle for dinner and there will also be a bar operating. This is a hugely fun night where children's work is celebrated, our community comes together in fellowship, and money from the auction goes to next year's arts budget and the whole school concert.
Please save the date - no babysitter required EVERYONE is welcome.
The diary is up to date, please go in and set aside all the important events. The State election will be held on Saturday 26th November and OLOL will be hosting a BBQ to sell the all-important Democracy Sausage - so please make yourself available for a stint on that roster too.
Have a lovely holiday and we all look forward to a fast exciting jam-packed Term Four!!
Thank you for it all,
Francine
Footy Fun Day is on tomorrow, Friday 16th September (last day of Term 3). Students are invited to dress up in their football team colours. This can be either AFL, NRL, Rugby or Soccer or your favourite sports team. The idea is to celebrate the football finals and generally have a bit of fun by supporting your team at school.
Parents are welcome to join us throughout the morning.
While on the subject of uniform – as it is the end of the term, could we please ask everyone to check their child’s uniform to ensure that all of the articles they are wearing (and any they may have in their bags) actually belong to them (in particular jumpers and jackets). Also, please ensure that all items of uniform are clearly marked with your child’s name.
Please remind your children that they need to be responsible for their own belongings!
Please remember that Term 4 means time to start wearing hats again on the playground. The school sun policy is “No Hat, Shaded Area”. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their hat each day! Please also ensure that your child’s hat has their name clearly marked on it.

School Improvement Survey - Last Chance to Complete !!
Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)
Throughout each year, we pause to listen to our students, families and staff to gauge how our learning community is travelling. This feedback is invaluable to our progress as effective school communities.
In 2022, students, families and staff are invited to participate in MACSSIS via our secure and purpose-built online platform. You will have received an email on Tuesday inviting you to participate. This email contains the weblink and your personalised pin number. So far we have had 17.6% of families respond. In order for the results to be analysed effectively we need at least 30% of families to respond.
Access to the survey ends on Friday 16th September so we ask that you complete the survey before the end of Term 3.
Our community’s opinions are critical to understanding how our school is performing – MACSSIS is a key data source for guiding the ongoing work to improve our school.
If you would like more information, please contact the school.

AFL Victoria is proud to announce the launch of our new initiative, Junior X.
Junior X is the newest version of the game which is a fun, fast and exciting modified version of Australian Football played on a smaller field. An easy to play, action-packed style provides an environment where fun, enjoyment and safety are priority. There is no training required and it is an 8-week summer competition (for kids aged 8-14 years old) run by AFL Victoria staff members starting this October. We would love to see some current and new junior footballers bring along a friend and help them experience football for the first time in a fun and fast new format.
