Next year is the OLOL centenary. The school community would like to celebrate this significant milestone with an event in February for current students and families, the OLOL parish, and past students and families. Planning has already started, and now we are looking for a motivated group of parents to support the creation and running of the event - ideally the more the merrier - many hands make light work!
Our aim is to identify a group of 6-10 parents who can take on the following tasks for the event: project management, ticketing, catering / alcohol, alumni engagement / archiving of alumni material, decorations, communications, budget.
If you have been wondering about getting involved in the school but haven’t wanted to take an ongoing role (e.g. on the P&F), this is a perfect opportunity for you to get involved - your involvement will be for a short period. Also if you have missed the community our lovely school generates over the last couple of years this is a chance for you to help us regenerate our school spirit, get to know other parents, and give back to the school.
If you know any alumni who might be interested in helping out as well, please let us know - our aim for this event is that it will be as inclusive as possible, in line with the values of our school and beautiful community!
Please reach out if you are keen to get involved!
A massive THANK YOU to the community as a whole for the way people are parking to collect their children from the school. When I think back to only a term or two ago when the car queue went around into Grandview Grove, local drivers were angry and tooting and we were receiving nasty phone calls weekly, I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for ensuring that pick up is now, communal, safe and happy!
We had a brilliant Grandparents and Other Special People's Day. A beautiful Mass, great classroom time, and a delicious morning tea. It was a beautiful morning full of love and pride. We received so much positive written and verbal feedback it was a very happy day for everyone. A special thank you to all those who sent in food and to Joe Cabret and Michael Burke who helped the staff with setting up and packing up the morning tea - much appreciated.
And finally, our major fundraiser is coming up. SATURDAY 20TH AUGUST, We're hoping the babysitter is booked, glad rags dry-cleaned and tickets purchased. Oh speaking of purchasing tickets, please see below to purchase your tickets for the evening. The greater the turn up at this, the more fun for everyone!
Only one month of Winter left - YIPPEE!
Thank you for your continues support,
Francine
Book Week 2022 - Dreaming with Eyes Open...
Scholastic Book Fair - 19th August - 24th August
The Scholastic Book Fair commences on Friday 19th August. The book fair will run from Friday through to Wednesday and will operate from 8.30am – 9.00am and again in the afternoon from 3.30pm – 4.00pm. This is a great opportunity to purchase some fabulous, well-priced books for your children. A percentage of all sales go towards books for our own school library so please come along and take a look.
Mary is looking for volunteers to assist with the book sales. Please fill out the roster here if you are able to assist. As always any parent assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Outstanding School Fees for 2022
Forces and Functions Incursion
Students in Year 3 and 4 have had a great day hosting Supreme Incursions for a Forces and Functions Incursion!
We learnt lots about making circuits, gravity, friction, electrical energy and motion energy. We even made some small explosions!
Students in Year 2 have begun the very important preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Sacrament will be celebrated on Wednesday 17th August at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 631 High St, Prahran VIC 3181. Please arrive at the Church by 5:45pm for a 6:00pm start. We will begin the evening with a short Liturgy before the Reconciliation of each child. The celebration should last approximately one hour.
We hope this will be one of many times the children will celebrate this special Sacrament.
