Bonjour welcome back to Term Three 2022!
As we publish our newsletter fortnightly - the 'real' Newsletter is not due until next week. However, we have been asked to share the new COVID-related articles with parents as soon as possible so we are sending out an interim letter today.
There was a P&F meeting last night so we have taken the opportunity to update everyone on the Winter Fundraiser and ask for help. Please read the posters on donating auction or raffle items - WE REALLY NEED OUR COMMUNITY TO BE GENEROUS WITH THIS. As you know we badly need new classrooms and this fundraiser is going directly to that cause.
So, have a great week, and stay tuned for the real Newsletter next week (full of Bastille Day happenings and lots of other news!)
Regards
Francine
We have masks available for students and are encouragng their use. Current advice from the Victorian Government on the wearing of face masks is available here: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/face-masks: It states:
Wearing a face mask can help protect you and those around you. Face masks stop droplets from spreading when you talk, cough, sneeze, and laugh, which lowers your chance of spreading or catching the virus. This information is especially important for those who are medically at risk. The advice also strongly recommends the wearing of face masks in indoor settings (noting that exceptions to the recommendation apply to teaching circumstances when clear enunciation or visibility of the mouth is essential). We have been asked to communicate this advice clearly to staff, students, and families. Household contacts attending school who are over 8 years of age are required to wear facemasks indoors unless they have a valid exception.
Everyone including students aged 8 years and above must wear a face mask when traveling on public transport, taxis, or ride-share vehicles.
Updated RATS distribution procedures
Rapid Antigen Tests − Terms 3 and 4
The Victorian Government has determined the rapid antigen test (RAT) distribution strategy for Terms 3 and 4.
Under the approach, schools will receive up to three deliveries of RATs each in Terms 3 and 4.
Schools will be able to provide these RATs to parents/carers, staff, or students on request, as the previous settings that required weekly or daily testing of students and staff have ceased.
Please let us know if you would like a kit sent home with your child/ren - and please continue to keep sick and symptomatic children home.
We are very keen to resume our Before School Care program with Extend. We feel that as many of our parents are returning to the office that this service will come in very handy for many of our families.
The purpose of this survey is to ascertain the need or the projected need for the Before School Care service and on what days.
If you could please spend one minute filling out this form it would be greatly appreciated. In order to have the service return, we do need at least 5 families to be interested in any of the days.
Please fill out the form below even if you think you might only use it now or then, the more interest the greater chance this important parent support service will return.
If you have already filled it out from this week's Szapp, thank you!!
Get the babysitter ready; the OLOL Winter Drinks and Fundraiser takes place at the Prahran Hotel, Saturday 20 August at 7pm.
This isn’t just an opportunity to let your hair down and shake off the winter frost with the best parents in town – it’s also our school’s major fundraiser for the year, with all money raised going towards our building fund (think new classrooms, indoor and outdoor learning areas, and refurbishments that our kids and staff need and would love!).
As with any fundraising endeavour, we rely on the generosity of our school community, via donations. Donated prizes will be raffled before and on the night; more details will be announced in the coming weeks.
If you’re in a position to donate a big-ticket item that could be auctioned on the night, we want to hear from you! Please contact the school or P&F.
We look forward to celebrating and supporting our wonderful school!
