Dear Parents,
I was asked an interesting question at the Cross-Country yesterday morning which made me decide that I HAD to write to you all.
The question was loosely, 'Are parents allowed to come to the disco on Friday night?'
The answer is not only are they allowed to come but this occasion is ALL about the parents!!!!
When I first arrived at this school, I could not believe the anticipation with which the Disco was held - and that wasn't just the kids. Because the children are completely occupied by the disco, it is a great babysitter-free night for parents to catch up.
We have a sausage sizzle (with Bouchier sausages), a bar (with beer, wine, and bubbles), and sell disco wands (with glowy sparkly things in them) what isn't to love?
Things have changed a bit and in this newsletter, I'll go through both Liquor Licence restrictions and COVID restrictions but the main thing that has not changed in the nearly twenty years that this school has held a disco is YES it's a big night, Yes it is exciting and Yes it is for children AND their parents.
Parents can visit the Disco in the hall (especially if there is a toddler involved) but we ask them not to stay too long and observe social distancing measures. We cannot have the hall full of adults. There will be parent monitors down there to help with appropriate behaviour.
There is hand sanitizer available everywhere and you must code in on one of the multiple QR Codes in the school.
Can't wait to see you ALL there,
Francine
Calling all OLOL Parents and Carers!
We still need volunteers to help with the bar, BBQ, disco gear, icy pole stands
and to be Disco Marshalls - supervising our little disco stars in the hall throughout the night.
Please click here to sign up and help at our Disco next Friday night.
Thanking you in advance for your support.
WE STILL NEED HELP AND PEOPLE TO VOLUNTEER TO MAKE THIS A SUPER NIGHT FOR ALL!
The map below shows the areas where alcohol can be consumed. It is very important for the safety of everyone involved that you obey all the requirements regarding the consumption of alcohol in the vicinity. It is well signposted.
Thank you for ensuring the fun and safety of our school.
One of the COVID measures and frankly just a super help to the P&F is that we run the event CASHLESS!
There will be 'squares' at the bar and at the bbq and you buy tokens to purchase your Disco Wands.
It's easy peasy, germ-free and convenient.
On the subject of being social... thank you to all those parents who stopped by on Monday morning for a coffee and a catch up. The coffee van will be in the playground every Monday morning from 8:20-9:00am and it is a perfect opportunity for parents to meet at drop off.
