Mr. Costa and I had the absolute joy of taking our Year 6's to the National Mass for the Bicentenary of Catholic Education in Australia which was celebrated on Monday on the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians at St Patricks Catedral in the city. Even though they are small in number, I believe the leadership shown by this year's Year 6's has been outstanding and we were very proud to be accepted as part of the 600 students and staff to attend the Mass on Monday. As a treat afterwards and to reward our leaders we all went to the Emporium Food Court and had a delicious feast. We had such a lovely day together, the choir at the Mass was wonderful, the friendship celebrated at the lunch was heartwarming and the weather was extraordinary.
We who are the beneficiaries of modern Catholic Education should be so grateful to all those who have gone before us to make our system something truly unique here in Australia. In this newsletter, I have included the message from the Prime Minister on this significant event.

COVID UPDATE AND REMOTE LEARNING
As we have already notified parents, tomorrow by governmental decree is a student-free day to give teachers time to prepare work for the students for Monday through Thursday next week.
The school has arranged the following:
Pick-Up Pack | Lesson Method | Instructions on | |
Prep / Year 1 | Hard Pack | Combination Hard Pack and Digital | Seesaw by Sunday 4.00pm |
Year 2/ Year 3 | Hard Pack | Combination Hard Pack and Digital | Seesaw by Sunday 4.00pm |

Classes that require hard copy packs:
These can be picked up from the Art Room from 8.30 am Monday morning. We ask as per instructions last time that parents use the Eastside entry and do not enter the school. Please do not use this as a social catch-up but rather just the facility to pick up work.
The Online learning Hub is back up on SZapp and hosts all our Remote Learning guidelines and help.
Classroom teachers will communicate with you via their usual communication platforms.
Students will be marked as 'Attending' when there has been an online presence. This is either from the morning class zoom or posting work. If your child is not 'attending' please email the classroom teacher so we can complete attendance compliance.
All Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings will be zoomed next week. All families involved have already been notified with both meeting times and the zoom link.
DUE TO AN OUTPOURING OF DISAPPOINTMENT, WE HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE OUR 'CASUAL CLOTHES DAY AND MILO MOVIE MORNING' TO FRIDAY NEXT WEEK.
- FRIDAY 4TH -
On Friday we will be holding a Movie Morning!!! The children can all wear casual clothes for the day and the P&F will provide us all with a warm milo and cookie to enjoy during our movie.
I would like to thank the P&F for their support in providing the treats for the students and the staff for agreeing to rearrange their day.
Message from the Prime Minister - Bicentenary of Catholic Education
To the Catholic schools, early learning centres and universities of Australia, congratulations on 200 wonderful years of teaching and learning! I’m delighted to join you in celebrating this milestone.
Two hundred years ago, Fr John Therry answered the call to educate the youth of Parramatta. From that small beginning of 31 students began a great work that now spans 1,755 schools, 100,000 staff and 777,000 school students.
From Xavier Catholic College, Wurrumiyanga in our most north; to Sacred Heart Catholic School, Geeveston in our south; to St Mary’s Star of the Sea, Carnarvon in the west; to St Finbarr’s, Byron Bay in the east; and to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College, Alice Springs in our red centre, Australia’s Catholic Schools cover the breadth of our country.
Over 200 years, your schools, preschools and now universities, have transformed Australia through the millions of lives you have influenced.
I recognise the contribution of Catholic Education to Australian life and I join you in celebrating this anniversary.
On this anniversary, we remember all who have been part of this heritage, including Fr Therry and Australia’s first saint, Mary of the Cross. We recall on this anniversary, the good days and the bad, the successes and disappointments; joys and sufferings; as well as the faith and community that has enabled Catholic Education to make this significant contribution to our national life.
In doing so, we also recognise the clergy, religious, lay men and women, parents and parishes who have contributed so much. I send my best wishes to everyone celebrating this bicentenary.
God bless.
The Hon Scott Morrison MP
Prime Minister of Australia

A marvellous day was had by all involved in the 2021 OLOL Cross Country Carnival. The rain stayed away and the students ran fast! What more could we want?
I would like to thank all the staff and parents who helped on the day as well as helping on the Friday morning training sessions. A very special thank you to the three legendary parents who stayed back after the carnival to help pack away the marquees.
