Dear Parents,
A mid-week letter is a rare event but we really need a few important things to be on your radar. To this end we have a mini newsletter.
Enjoy
Francine
This will be a change for us as it means we will be in summer uniform, not winter uniform. As per the uniform code, girls are to wear white SHORT (Long socks are fine too we can roll them down for consistency) socks, and boys are to wear navy socks.
ALL students must be wearing black school shoes. Now I understand that many students are currently wearing sneakers because they have grown out of their school shoes and it has been difficult to purchase new shoes. I also understand the hesitation to buy shoes so close to the summer holidays. So I suggest the children who have grown out of shoes bring them to school and squeeze in to the for the few minutes that the photo takes to be shot and then pop back into their sneakers. You may like to borrow some or simply buy them - up to you but EVERY CHILD IS TO BE IN BLACK SCHOOL SHOES FOR THE PHOTOS!
To be compliant with the existing COVID guidelines, the students will be photographed individually and then the classes will be photoshopped together. This means the effect will be slightly different than in past years.
The other aspect is that as this is taking place so late in the year, we may not receive the photos until the beginning of 2021. I understand that this is not ideal but I know you will understand if it is the case. The photographers are endeavouring to get them to us before the end of the school year but there are no guarantees. Also please remember that it is not compulsory to buy the photos. It is merely an offer. If like many of our graduates, the student has left the school, we will send the photos to your last address.
Each child has a pack with their name on it. This MUST come back to school regardless of whether or not you are purchasing any photos.
Thank you
MONDAY 30 NOVEMBER 2020 - SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY - 2021 PLANNING
There is a school closure day on Monday 30th November.
Please note that due to a lack a numbers, Extend will not be providing care.
In a year that has been challenging for all, please spare a thought for those that have been hit the hardest - Those who’ve lost the security of a safe place to call home.
OLOL prides itself on how our school community rallies together in times of need. This year, we are proud to be running The Salvation Army Crisis Centre Toy Appeal. The crisis centre offers vulnerable families with young children and those most at risk a safe and warm environment, something everyone should be entitled to.
All donations will go to children in the crisis centres who would otherwise wake up Christmas morning to no gift.
It has been kindly requested that all toys are to be brand new and unwrapped so the volunteers can ensure that each toy is delivered to the appropriate child.
There are big collection boxes in the front foyer for toy donations.
Toys for ages 2-10 will be graciously welcome by no later than Friday the 4th December.
On behalf of all at OLOL, I know this will be yet another successful appeal and one that will be sure to put a smile on a lot of children’s faces. Thank you!
Food For Friends Christmas Dress Up Day
OLOL always plays an important part in our Parish's participation in the Ecumenical Christmas charity 'Food For Friends'. Traditionally our families and senior students stand by trollies in our local Woolworths to collect hamper food for families in need. This year, and for this year only, Food For Friends will run in a different form due to COVID 19. Instead of asking for help in manning the collection trollies, Food For Friends is asking for financial donations.
To this end, our school will hold a...
CHRISTMAS DRESS UP DAY on Monday 14th December.
We are asking that families send in a cash donation that they can afford at this time and that way hopefully our school can give a significant gift to this worthy cause. If every family is able to send in even $5.00 that would raise over $500.00 from our community - imagine how much we might be able to donate to this cause. Please note Food for Friends is unable to issue receipts for the donations. The money will be spent on food and distributed to those in need.
