Dear Parents,
You may have heard in today's news that The Guardian Childcare and Education centre in Prahran had an infected worker identified. The minister and subsequently media have reported this incorrectly. The child care centre WAS NOT The Guardian Childcare and Education centre in Prahran. In this case, it is a mistake. Regardless, the directive with any closure as a result of COVID, is to follow the specific instructions given out at the time by the source of the infection.
Thank you, Francine
Welcome back teachers, staff , parents and most of all students from what has been an amazing home learning experience. I enjoyed it a lot but I am glad to be back in the classroom, seeing all my friends and socialising from a distance of course.
Home learning was great, I really enjoyed staying in my pj's and sleeping in, which I'm sure a lot of you enjoyed as well. A big thank you is in order for Mrs Walsh and the teachers for setting up remote learning and encouraging us every step of the way.
Now we are back at school and getting back into routine. I think that we need to give a big thank you to the cleaners for keeping our classrooms and school extra clean.

Home learning was fun for me but when I heard the date for when we were going to go back to school I was so excited I couldn’t wait. The first day back at school was so exciting. I couldn’t wait to see my friends again after 2 months.
The activities that the teachers set up for homeschooling were quite fun. Home learning was great because you could finish your work whenever you want. In Mr. Costas's class our class had a daily zoom meeting which was good for people that didn’t know what to do for an activity. I also liked being at home because some days I worked in my pajamas.
At the start of home learning, I was talking to mum and wondering how our school would stay connected and how we could continue to lead the school even though we weren’t together. So my mum and I came up with the idea of running some school-wide competitions. Then we had a special leadership zoom with Mrs. Walsh and we all of us leaders decided together what we could do, how it might run, and what the prizes could be. Annie Dowd won the baking competition, Mia McMeekin won the construction competition and the talent show winners will soon be announced.
When I came back to school it was a bit different for obvious reasons, but I was so happy to see my friends that I didn’t let the new rules get in the way of my fun. The thing I missed the most about everything being open is my netball. I missed it so much and then on the weekend we started training again and I was so happy. I was happy to see my friends and to play netball again.
When I got school captain this year I was so excited and coming back to school I was even more excited to come back and do the job in real life again. This is the best school ever and I wish I never had to leave.

Schools recently were advised that Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM) would be supporting schools with optional pulse check surveys for our stakeholders in order to help capture the learnings from the remote learning period. Although OLOL developed a comprehensive information HUB on our SZapp and regularly surveyed you ourselves, this would be another data set to help us in the future. It is important to add our voice to the system collection as well - so as it only takes 10 minutes to complete I ask that you complete it. Surveys opened yesterday and are opened until the end of next week.
Remote Learning Surveys
Catholic Education Melbourne, in conjunction with schools, parents and Dr Simon Breakspear from Agile Schools, has developed a set of optional surveys for schools to capture the learnings achieved during the remote learning period.
- The surveys are designed to be a quick and rapid capture of learnings while the experience is fresh, and is not designed to capture every aspect of schooling during the lockdown period.
- These surveys complement learning captures that are already being undertaking by schools, and by the system more broadly, in order to support our learning as an organisation. (More about why we should capture learnings at this time from Dr Simon Breakspear, Agile Schools)
- Surveys will be open from 16 June - 26 June.
Dear Parent or Carer,
The period of remote learning has been a challenging time for us all, but despite
the major disruptions to normal activities, there will be many valuable lessons
derived from this period that we as a school, and the system, wish to take
forward.
Below is a link to an optional survey in order to help capture the learnings from
the remote learning period.
The surveys are designed to be a quick capture of learnings while the experience
is fresh, and are not designed to capture every aspect of schooling during the
lockdown period. Your feedback will be valuable in learning from the experience
and improving education outcomes. More about why we should capture learnings
at this time (from Dr Simon Breakspear, Agile Schools)
Here is the link to the survey. It is expected the survey will take approximately
10 minutes to complete.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute to our learnings as a school and
education system.
Thank you to all the students who entered a video for the OLOL Talent Show. There are so many unbelievable talents in our school, I just do not know how we are going to choose a winner. The winner will be announced next week!
