When we review recent trends of OLOL school enrolment data we are seeing a growing trend of fluidity in our community. In both 2019 and 2018, we lost an increasing number of families to moving out of the area, and I'm talking WAY out of the area. Last year alone we had three families (all with two children) move to Queensland! So after six years of increasing enrolment and positive projections, we have found ourselves in a new era. I see this as a positive. I love a challenge. Our challenge is to acknowledge the new landscape and put in place a new set of measures to ensure the ongoing vitality and validity of OLOL.
Essentially the answer lies in increased Foundation enrollment. If the sands have shifted so too will our KPI's. We are now focusing on a new Foundation enrolment target of between 45 - 55. In this way, as families move from the area the school's numbers remain viable and the senior school robust.
At the start of this piece I said 'to everyone's credit,' we've achieved those initial marketing/growth goals. There have been so many families past and present that have made OLOL the community it is. Their efforts have made the growth of OLOL not only possible but almost impossible for it not to have grown. The P and F raising money to improve the facilities, The School Education Board monitoring and tracking major projects and future directions, families everywhere telling their friends about how beautiful the school is and how happy their children are, teachers and staff across the school attending to improved student outcomes and the all-important well being of our students.
We have included in this newsletter elements of our brand new marketing campaign. This is an exciting time and coincides with the launch of our new website. One immediate way you can help spread the word of OLOL is to help us 'letterbox' open day flyers. (See letterboxing article) Another tried and true way is to speak about the school to your friends and family.
I know this is a long article and I know it's the beginning of the year. But what better way to start a year than a call to arms! Our Foundation enrolment last year was 36, our Foundation enrollment this year is 28 we have a year to get next years enrolment to 40 and be halfway to achieving our new KPI's!!!
Let's do this together!
As a major part of our Open Day campaign, we would like all families to help OLOL by dropping the new flyers into neighbourhood mailboxes.
We are asking that ALL students register their names with Robyn (in the office) to 'Letter Box' their street and one or two others. We need a register so that our poor neighbours don't get inundated with multiple OLOL Open Day flyers. We will keep a master copy at the office to avoid duplication. The SRC will be monitoring this project and assisting with the distribution of this important material.
