Prayer for International Day of Friendship
Dear Lord,
We thank you for the examples the Saints have given us in the ways and blessings of holy friendship. We ask you to grant us the gift of holy friendships in our lives, with individuals who will walk faithfully side by side and arm in arm with us, back to you, as we travel our pilgrim journeys on this earth together.
Amen.
Dear Parents,
It's been another exciting fortnight at Our Lady of Lourdes! Our wonderful Preps celebrated their 100 days of Prep with Tim Credible The Magician, participated in a range of fun activities, and concluded with an amazing assembly presentation.
Our Year 5 and 6 students did a fantastic job competing in the Bayside Netball Competition. Despite a few bruises and tired bodies, the girls held the overall winners to the smallest margin in the competition. Well done, girls!
This week, many of our Year 3 and 4 students and all Year 5 and 6 students participated in the Hooptime Basketball Competition. They had a great time playing as a team and won several games. Our sports and fitness program has been thriving over the past two weeks.
At these events, we always like to include our parent community in some way. We understand that many of our parents have work commitments, and coaching a team or helping out is not always possible. However, we encourage you to consider participating in OLOL events, as it is a positive experience for our parents and greatly enjoyed by our kids.
Tomorrow, we have our SRC fundraiser, where the money raised will go towards installing new drink taps for the students. This is a fantastic initiative for our students to organise, act on, and implement something they feel is an important improvement for our school. Students are asked to bring NO MORE than $10 in change with them. Last year, some students brought $20 and $50 notes, which is not ideal. It will be a gold coin donation for a free dress day, followed by a bake sale and sausage sizzle. Please remind your children not to give money to other children on the day. We look forward to seeing the students in green and gold or their favourite sports team colours.
Our P&F Committee is working hard behind the scenes to organise special events coming up towards the end of the year. Please keep an eye on the Schoolzine Calendar to stay up to date with upcoming events. They will need some help and support from you at these events, and we hope you can put your name down on the job list. It's a great way to meet other parents from different year levels and classrooms.
I have just concluded our Prep interviews for 2025 and am very excited for our new students to start. We look forward to welcoming our new families and siblings to our school at our Prep Orientation in November.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.

For a gold coin donation, students are invited to wear their favourite team's sports kit, (eg karate, football etc), green and gold clothing or even your sports uniform!
In addition to this, at recess we will hold a bake sale in the hall with lots of goodies baked by our very own SRC for the students to purchase. Then at lunch time, the Year 5 and 6's will be selling sausages in bread for $1.
Please note students are not to bring more than $10 to school for this event!
Students will participate in a range of athletic events from sprints to shot put to sack racing. Students and families are encouraged to wear their House Colours on the day, or just their sports uniform. The events will start at 9.30am and the final presentation to start at 1.00pm.
A SZapp has been sent out requesting parent volunteers for the morning. If you are able to assist it is greatly appreciated.
On Monday 22nd August, the winning girls team from the Holt Netball Lightning Premiership represented the district at the Beachside Netball Competition. The event was held at the new Stonnington Netball Centre and it was an action packed day and a high level of competition. The team played five games and came up against some quality opposition.
Congratulations to Flick, Rose, Stella, Charlize, Zoe, Zahra, Frankie, Lexie on a fantastic performance. Winning the Holt Netball Lightning Premiership is a wonderful achievement and competing so valiantly in the Beachside Netball Competition shows not only the quality of your netball talents but also your commitement to playing as a team and brining out the best in each other!
Thanks to Coach Griffin for her efforts and coaching the team!
