Dear Parents,
I was beginning to wonder when the cold weather would arrive, and the past week has proven that it’s definitely here. I hope all of our families had a wonderful Mother’s Day and that the children spoiled their mothers. These days create such special moments, complemented by celebratory lunches and dinners.
I am currently working on a five-year strategic plan for our school, and I need your assistance in collecting valuable data to ensure the plan is accurate and effective. This data will inform me, our school leadership team, and the School Advisory Committee about what we are doing well, areas for improvement, and what our school will look like in the next five years. We would greatly appreciate it if you could spare five minutes to complete the OLOL Strategic Plan Survey.

There will be a change in our Sunsmart Policy, effective from the beginning of Term 3. All students will be required to wear hats during play throughout the year. Currently, hats are only required in Term 1 and Term 4. After a discussion at this week's SAC meeting, we have agreed to make this change and provide students with sunscreen in the classrooms. If your child has an allergic reaction to certain sunscreens, we will require parents to provide an appropriate alternative. Even though UV rays are lower during the winter months, there are still many days when UV levels exceed 3, posing a risk of sunburn, even on cloudy days. At OLOL, we are continually looking for ways to improve our students' safety in all areas.
In the final week of the term, we will celebrate our students' learning with our annual Inquiry Expo, to which all parents are invited. You will have the opportunity to walk around the classrooms, view the students' work, and ask questions about their learning. It will be a great reflection of what students have learned during their Inquiry units this term. Details are outlined below.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.

Loving God,
As we commemorate National Reconciliation Week, we come together to reflect, to listen, and to commit ourselves anew to the journey of reconciliation in Australia.
Lord, we give thanks for the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the first custodians of this land. We honour their history, their traditions, and their deep connection to this country. We acknowledge the pain and suffering caused by injustice and inequality, and we seek your healing and forgiveness.
We pray for our leaders and communities, that they may be guided by your wisdom and compassion. Inspire us to build bridges of understanding and respect, to celebrate our shared humanity, and to create a future where all people are valued and respected.
Heavenly Father, unite us as one people, one nation, under your loving care. Help us to embrace the spirit of reconciliation, to seek your guidance in our efforts, and to trust in your promise of hope and renewal.
Through Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
Congratulations to the students who celebrated their First Reconciliation last week. We hope it will be one of many opportunities you have to reconcile with God.
Children who have symptoms of gastroenteritis (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain, headache and/or muscle aches) should remain home until 48 hours have passed since their last symptom. Schools are unfortunately petri-dishes for these viruses therefore it is important that all parents adhere to this advice.
We have some children and parents in our school community whose immune system is not as strong as others. To assist with this, we also ask that if your child has any common cold or flu symptoms, please consider keeping them at home until they feel well enough to attend school.
Student Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews
Student Reports will go home at the end of Term Two as usual. Reports will be available to parents from 4pm on Friday 21st June (Week Ten). New families will be sent a portal invitation within the next week. Please keep an eye on your emails and check your SPAM as well, the email will be from nForma. Please contact Irene Stone if do not receive your email with the log in details.
Parent/Teacher Interviews however will take place at the beginning of Term Three.
On Wednesday 17th July school will finish at 1.00pm to allow the interviews to begin at 1.15pm and go until 7.00pm that evening.
