Dear Parents,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your families and were able to spend some quality time together during the break. My family and I spent a week visiting friends in Sydney and Port Macquarie, which was fantastic.
Continuing from the holidays, our very own Bridget Ardely got engaged to her partner Brandon during a weekend getaway, and Joey Ayrton-Delany celebrated his graduation on Monday, April 15th. Congratulations to both of you on these wonderful life milestones.
Tomorrow, we celebrate ANZAC Day, a day of remembrance and gratitude for the sacrifices made by Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women. It's a time not only to watch the Magpies take on the Bombers at the G but also to honour those who have served and continue to serve our countries. ANZAC Day holds deep significance for our nation, marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War I.
As we head into winter, the weather is starting to cool down. Our annual school beanies are available for purchase via our school office for $15. It’s a great way for kids to keep their heads warm during the colder months. Additionally, as it is now Term 2, our uniform has transitioned to the winter uniform. See below for details.
This term, we have two more Open Days scheduled, one on Monday, May 6th, and the other on Sunday, June 2nd. We have added a trial Sunday on the same day as our Whole School Mass to increase engagement for those who are too busy to visit the school on a weekday. Our Year Five and Six students will lead school tours in their uniforms before heading over to our church for our Whole School Sunday Mass. If you have any friends or family considering OLOL as their preferred primary school, please let them know about these dates and encourage them to come along. Hopefully, some of the future parents will join us at Mass.
Last week, our Year Five and Six students participated in our annual Holt Soccer Tournament against eight other schools in our region. We achieved third place overall and won several games between our boys' and girls' teams. Congratulations to our seniors on a successful tournament!
Just a reminder that school resumes as normal on Friday 26th of April.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.
Adrian McAlister
Heavenly Father,
On this Anzac Day, we gather in prayerful remembrance of those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We remember the brave men and women who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. We honour their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to peace and justice.
We pray for all those who have lost their lives in war, that they may find eternal rest in your loving embrace. We pray for their families and loved ones, that they may be comforted in their grief and find strength in their memories.
We ask for your blessing upon all those who serve in our armed forces today, both at home and abroad. Grant them courage and protection as they work for peace and security in our world.
May we never forget the sacrifices that have been made for us, and may we always strive to build a world where peace and justice reign.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Congratulations to all the Student of the Week Award winners from Week 1. These students exemplified the value of; Being Independent.

Terms Two and Three are traditionally the terms when we wear winter uniform, however because the weather is so changeable we usually give the students a two week ‘grace’ period before the winter uniform rule comes in firmly. All students are to be in winter uniform by Monday 29th April.
The winter uniform consists of :
Boys
- Long sleeve blue shirt with logo
- Long navy pants or Navy Shorts
- Navy socks / Knee length navy socks with shorts
- Navy wool school jumper
Girls
- Long sleeve blue shirt with logo
- Winter tunic
- Navy tights or knee length navy socks
- Navy wool school jumper
Our Woollen School Jumper, OLOL Beanie and Art Smock are the only items which are purchased on campus at OLOL. To order these items online please use SZapp and these orders will be filled on either a Thursday or Friday and placed into your child's bag.
Please return all Project Compassion boxes to the school office by Friday 3rd May or alternatively you can donate online via the Caritas website at https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion/
