Dear Parents,
You may have noticed my absence at the front gate and during last week's Cross Country event. I was representing our school at the biannual conference held in Lorne, joined by 250 other Catholic School principals from across Victoria. It was an enriching experience, providing me with the opportunity to network with peers and be inspired by remarkable speakers such as Sharoo Briarley and Jelena Dokic, both of whom shared powerful messages through their unique stories.
In other exciting news from last week, we were fortunate to host Bailey Mifsud, who led an indigenous art incursion for our students. During the session, our students delved into the significance of indigenous symbols and explored the stories embedded within indigenous artworks. They even had the chance to create their own art pieces, which will be showcased at our upcoming Art Show in Term 3. Bailey has been instrumental in painting school murals, prompting discussions within our P&F about raising funds to commission a unique artwork for OLOL.
(Example piece Bailey commissioned for St Michael's, North Melbourne)
Speaking of our P&F, our dedicated committee convened last week to strategise upcoming events and initiatives. Two significant items on the agenda were the acquisition of Bailey Mifsud's indigenous art piece and a new school PA system, totalling $10,000. Recognising the importance of these additions to our school, the P&F identified them as promising fundraising opportunities. Each year level group will spearhead its own fundraising initiative, decided by classroom representatives. The year level group that raises the most funds for these initiatives will be awarded a prize, decided by the students themselves. More information about this fundraising initiative to come early next term.
I'm thrilled to share that our annual Easter Raffle was a resounding success, thanks to the generous contributions from all of our wonderful families. Special thanks to the Konis family for donating two $100 vouchers to Salona Greek Restaurant. The joy on our student's faces, when they won a hamper, was priceless, and we managed to raise $3,174 in total. Your continuous support truly makes a difference.
As we approach the Easter break, on behalf of the entire staff at OLOL, I extend warm wishes for a happy and safe holiday. May you cherish this time with your loved ones, and here's hoping this beautiful weather continues in the weeks to come.
Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.

On Thursday 21st March, blue skies and a warm morning were on the menu for the OLOL Cross Country! It was a fantastic morning with students representing their houses with a sea of coloured t-shirts, face paint, coloured socks, headbands and much more!
The competition was fierce with only 7 points separating 1st and 3rd! It is a reflection of the dedication to the weekly Running Club sessions where the commitment to training is reflected in every student doing their absolute best!
A big congratulations to Red House winning on 61 points with Green a close second on 55 points and Gold nipping at their heels on 54 points! A well deserved victory on a terrific day of competition!
Congratulations to all the students on a wonderful day. The way you compete against each other, but at the same time support each other, is a reflection of great sportsmanship and culture at OLOL!

Terms Two and Three are traditionally the terms when we wear winter uniform, however because the weather is so changeable we usually give the students a two week ‘grace’ period before the winter uniform rule comes in firmly. Term 2 commences on Monday 15th April. All students are to be in winter uniform by Monday 29th April.
The winter uniform consists of :
Boys
- Long sleeve blue shirt with logo
- Long navy pants or Navy Shorts
- Navy socks / Knee length navy socks with shorts
- Navy wool school jumper
Girls
- Long sleeve blue shirt with logo
- Winter tunic
- Navy tights or knee length navy socks
- Navy wool school jumper
Our Woollen School Jumper, OLOL Beanie and Art Smock are the only items which are purchased on campus at OLOL. To order these items online please use SZapp and these orders will be filled on either a Thursday or Friday and placed into your child's bag.
