Our Students
Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Primary School
At the very heart of each Catholic school is a desire for the full flourishing of each student, across religious, physical, cognitive, emotional and social domains. Here we support students to grow in virtue and to embrace a view of themselves and the world that leads to peace, justice, and the prospering of the whole of creation. It is a journey that is enlightened by faith, animated by love and leading to hope.
Horizons of Hope- Curriculum
Wellbeing
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a fundamental component of education, fostering personal growth and well-being. SEL equips students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to develop healthy identities, manage emotions effectively, build strong relationships, and make responsible choices.

At Our Lady of Lourdes, we integrate SEL into our curriculum through weekly lessons aligned with the Victorian Curriculum's Personal and Social Capability.

To support student learning in SEL, we employ evidence-based programs and resources. The Rights, Resilience, and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) program is a key component. RRRR promotes a culture of respect, equality, and healthy relationships throughout our school community, teaching students how to build resilience, confidence, and positive interactions. Our weekly running club is a great way for students to improve their health and fitness while cultivating a growth mindset. By setting and achieving personal goals, students learn the value of perseverance and dedication.
SRC and Senior Leadership Program
At Our Lady of Lourdes, we foster a culture of leadership, empowering students of all ages to actively participate in various leadership roles. From the Student Representative Council to the Year 5 and 6 Student Leadership Program, our school has a long tradition of nurturing young leaders. Our students are encouraged to follow their strengths, learn from others, and represent our school in positive ways.

Leadership opportunities are not limited to older students. Children across all year levels are given chances to lead in various curricular and extracurricular activities. By empowering our students to be leaders today, we are preparing them for a lifetime of leadership and positive impact.

Buddy Program
Our Buddy Program fosters a sense of community and belonging by connecting Year 5 and 6 students with our youngest learners. Through regular collaborations, these older students offer mentorship and support to our Prep students, creating lasting friendships and helping them feel welcome and secure in their new school environment.

During the Prep Transition period, Year 5 and 6 Buddies play a vital role in familiarising new students with the school grounds, routines, and practices. They provide guidance, reassurance, and support, ensuring that our youngest students feel safe and comfortable at recess and lunchtime.
Learning Diversity
Learning Diversity recognises that every learner is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and preferred learning styles. It embraces the richness of individual differences, including cultural backgrounds, learning abilities, and personal experiences. By understanding and valuing this diversity, we create inclusive learning environments that cater to the needs of all students, fostering a sense of belonging and empowering them to reach their full potential.
Child Safety
Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility. Central to the mission is an unequivocal commitment to fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enriching environment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. This commitment to child safety is reflected in all policies and procedures at our school. All Child Safety policies and procedures are regularly evaluated and updated by staff and the School Advisory Council, in line with child safety guidelines from the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACs).

There are a number of policies which outline our beliefs and actions related to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care at OLOL. These are available on the Policies page.
