The Arts are a fundamental means of expression and communication in all societies.
Through the Arts we gain a sense of our social and individual identity. At OLOL we believe that the pursuit of the Arts plays a
vital part in developing student knowledge and skills. Students benefit in many ways from the Arts: they develop increased
self-esteem and self-confidence both as learners and as performers; they develop teamwork and communication skills.
Weekly specialist Art lessons occur at all levels of the school.
The Visual Arts Program covers the history of Art, Art appreciation and skill
development in creating, making and presenting. Visual Arts are also incorporated
into the classroom as a vital part of the curriculum. The school hosts an annual
Art Show of the students’ work. The Performing Arts Program includes a
bi-annual whole school musical production. In addition, we have
a school choir and timetabled whole school singing sessions, in which
class items are practised for performance on special occasions such
as the Christmas Carol Evening. Students also have the opportunity
to take private instrumental Music lessons.
